Art the Clown prepares to wreak havoc on the unsuspecting residents of Miles County as they sleep peacefully on Christmas Eve. Director Damien Leone said that several major studios were interested in financing the film based on the unexpected success of Terrifier 2 (2022), even without a full script, but that he turned them all down because he was sure they would never let him do the opening scene alone, which ” very controversial”. Leone commented that the only reason he can be so uncompromising in his portrayal of horror and gore is because he finances his films independently, creates all the special effects himself to keep costs down, and doesn’t have a major studio breathing down his neck that a film is more mainstream.. Mia mentions that the 5 year anniversary of the original massacre is coming up, but it happened on Halloween and this movie taking place 5 years later at Christmas would mean that the anniversary has just been 2 months ago.. For Gorehounds, Damien Leone’s 2016 offering is the 'Terrifier' it was a damn good time. A violent splatterfest that didn’t try to be anything else, it followed Art the Clown on a murderous Halloween night spree. This sequel, 2022’s “Terrifier 2,”' it was an improvement in almost every way: bigger, funnier, and bloodier. Both films were critically acclaimed (by a certain kind of critic, that is) and did good business at the box office.
Can 'Terrifier 3' live up to its predecessors?
Self-financed, Leone’s first two 'Terrible' the movies are creepy, terrible, grand guignol masterpieces. The third installment of the franchise once again follows everyone’s favorite mute psychopath, Art the Clown. It’s Christmas and with a newly born head (watch the second movie to make any sense) and resplendent in a Santa costume, Art goes on another killing spree. Meanwhile, Sienna Shaw – the heroine of “Terrible 2” – is trying to move on with her life after having a shave with the evil clown five years earlier. But Art has other plans for Sienna.'Terrifier 3' not an insightful film.
Leone doesn’t care
It has no message, no theme, and no satirical weight. Don’t try to make ‘This follows,’' or 'Smile' or 'Rosemary’s Baby.' He doesn’t want to do horror with depth and nuance. He is about to make a spectacular splash; a feast of blood, guts and gore. He aims to outdo other horror filmmakers by upping the ante of carnage, throwing everything, including the sink and the plumber, at viewers to create thrills and chills. He succeeded.
you will be bitterly disappointed
Armed with a bigger budget than before, Leone creates a brilliantly brutal extreme fest, a worthy addition to the 'Terrifier' franchise. Wilder, funnier and darker than its predecessors. Expecting Leone to operate within what is traditionally called “good taste” is over the top and gory. He doesn’t just push the boundaries, he smashes them and breaks them down, with a hatchet to the head and a screwdriver to the spleen. Despite all this, non-violent scenes tend to be frenetic, lacking power or momentum.
